The objective of this work was to analyze the impact of job insecurity on the subjective perception of workers about their present and future work. This was done by estimating a series of linear regressions based on a survey applied in Chile. The results show that unskilled workers without a contract have a worse subjective perception compared to other groups. We propose the concept of decent and sustainable work to integrate subjective and temporal aspects in labor and sustainability studies. The results are discussed to highlight the importance of this subjective dimension to understand the latest waves of social unrest in Chile.
