The purposes of the article are to trace and show the relation between Alí Chumacero’s editorial facet and the typographic readings in his personal library, kept in the Biblioteca de México. Chumacero was a poet and editor, and played an active role in Mexican cultural and editorial life. In this text, based on the perspective of library studies, book collecting and marginalia, the intended approach is towards an often-omitted aspect of Chumacero’s intellectual profile. In the first part of the text some biographical information is briefly exposed, with special emphasis on the cultural world he inhabited. Secondly, it records his participation in some of the publishing companies and publications he was involved with, especially Fondo de Cultura Económica. Finally, the typographical readings from the revised corpus are addressed. The investigation reveals that Chumacero carefully read works for his everyday work as an editor, and shows his permanent enthusiasm and interest in editorial matters.
