Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to make a contribution to the understanding of the relationship that would be possible to establish between sustained economic growth, enjoyed by a country during an expansive stage of its economy, and the cross generational changes the such a growth process could produce in the profile of social stratification and mobility. Within this general subject which is presently gaining renewed importance in the field of social structure studies, the empirical reference is located in the case of Chile.
