The present study analyzes the evolution of five types of gender violence (i.e., physical, sexual, economic, symbolic, and psychological) present in the lyrics of the most popular reggaetón songs in Latin America between 2004 and 2017. The work presents the results of a longitudinal study based on a quantitative analysis of gender violence. The results show that, despite the transformations that have occurred within Latin American societies, the overall magnitude of gender violence in reggaetón does not appear to have decreased over the period. While sexual and physical violence has fallen, symbolic and psychological violence continues to increase.
