Abstract

This article studies the case of Espacio Comunitario Santa Ana, an organization of neighbors of the Cordillera hill in Valparaíso, who, through mutual support, solidarity, respect, collective property and self-management, have developed a model of commu- nity cultural management at the forefront of strategies for social transformation, recovery of the social fabric, rehabilitation of spaces, strengthening of tangible and intangible heritage and local identity. Framed in the theoretical and political discussion of the self-managed social production of habitat and the application of a qualitative methodology with different data production techniques, we seek to value cultural practices rooted in the territories since the early twentieth century, giving historical continuity and sociological agency to a living community inserted in the cultural reality of the Valparaíso of the hills.
